PM orders Dvorkovich to work on project for Krasnoyarsk industrial cluster

KRASNOYARSK. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has instructed Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich to work out the project for the Angara-Yenisei industrial cluster, which was presented at the tenth annual Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum.

"The Angara-Yenisei cluster - I've already received instructions from the prime minister, yesterday. Therefore, I await your proposals and we will make decisions," Dvorkovich said Saturday at the closing plenary session of the forum, addressing Krasnoyarsk Territory Governor Lev Kuznetsov.

Krasnoyarsk Territory has prepared an application to the Investment Fund of Russia for co-financing of the project to create the Angara-Yenisei cluster for 2012-2021.

The project was presented to Medvedev at the forum on Friday. The aim of the project is to develop the rich natural resources of the central part of Krasnoyarsk Territory and develop the region's mining, energy, metallurgy and forestry industries. Using the existing infrastructure of the Boguchany Hydropower Plant, the project proposes to build additional grid infrastructure, which would enable the region's gold miners, including Polyus Gold and Sotrudnik, to mine an additional 13 tonnes of gold.

The project also calls for the construction of a bridge of more than 2 km over the Yenisei River near the town of Vysokogorsky, and roads totaling 642 km.

The overall cost of the project is estimated at 272.1 billion rubles, of which 216.4 billion rubles are supposed to come from private investors and 45.7 billion rubles from the federal and regional governments.

Medvedev asked whether there is money for the project and was assured that there are already investors prepared to invest in the project.

The project is expected to create about 6,500 permanent jobs and increase overall federal tax revenues by 14 billion rubles by 2021.
