Rosneft, South Korean companies discuss further cooperation

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Rosneft President Igor Sechin discussed expanding cooperation with the management of South Korean companies Kogas and STX on Saturday, the Russian state-owned company said in a Sunday press release.

"The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in hydrocarbon production as well as development of transportation technologies," Rosneft reported.

According to a Rosneft spokesman, there was talk of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production.

During previous meetings with STX's management at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, Sechin said that Rosneft is looking into trade in petroleum products because the company is well represented in Singapore.

Last week, Rosneft and American company ExxonMobil signed several documents indicating, among other things, that the two companies will consider building an LNG plant in the Russian Far East. Furthermore, Rosneft is allowing for the possibility of constructing an LNG plant as part of a project in the Kara Sea.
