Producer prices in Russia down 0.4% in Jan - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Industrial producer prices in Russia fell for the fourth month in a row in January, declining by 0.4% after falling 1.1% in December, 1.2% in November and 1.6% in October, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported on Monday.
A consensus forecast of analysts polled by Interfax at the end of January proposed 0.3% producer price growth.
Wholesale prices for all types of economic activity experienced a decline in January: in mineral resource production, they edged down 0.1%; in manufacturing - 0.4%; and in electricity, gas and water production and distribution - 0.7%.
In fuel and energy resource production, producer prices were down 10.5% for natural gas liquefaction and regasification for transport; they fell 5.4% for natural gas and gas condensate; and they decreased 1.9% for black coal concentration and agglomeration. At the same time, producer prices for oil and gas production services rose 6.4%, and for peat extraction and agglomeration they grew 2.5%.
In the production of mineral resources besides fuel and energy, producer prices for mineral raw materials for chemical and fertilizer production skyrocketed 37.8%.
The manufacturing sector saw producer prices for petroleum products decrease in January. In particular, raw materials prices for bitumen production dropped 21.3%, for dry gas they fell 18.2%, motor fuel for ship diesel - 6.5%, diesel fuel - 3.8%, and domestic heating fuel - 3.6%.
