Use of kerosene possible source of blast at mill in south Russia - investigators
KRASNODAR, Russia. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Investigators believe the use of kerosene in manufacturing processes was one of the likely causes of an explosion that destroyed the building of a vegetable oil-making mill in southern Russia on Monday, leaving at least five people injured, Russia's Investigative Committee said.
"The building of the mill was completely destroyed by the explosion, and the blast wave damaged the fences and windows of nearby houses," the committee's territorial branch said in a statement.
The explosion was the result of a fire at the mill in Kropotkin that spread to an area of about 1,000 square meters, but was extinguished by a fire team.
Five mill workers - four men and a woman - were hospitalized with burns.
