Kuzbass coal output down 6.5% in Jan

KEMEROVO. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Russia's coal-rich Kuznetsk basin (Kuzbass, Kemerovo region) reduced coal production 6.5% year-on-year in January to 14.3 million tonnes, the regional administration said.

This included 4.3 million tonnes of coking coal, up 10.3% year-on-year but level with December 2012.

Coal shipments were level with January last year at 16.2 million tonnes overall, but exports fell 3.8% to 7.5 million tonnes.

Coal inventory was 13.9 million tonnes at the end of January.
