National Olympic Committee Vice President Bilalov files for resignation

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Akhmed Bilalov, Vice President of Russia's National Olympic Committee, is stepping down, a source told Interfax on Monday.

"Bilalov filed for voluntary resignation today," he said.

Earlier on Monday, National Olympic Committee President Alexander Zhukov told Interfax that the National Olympic Committee's Executive Committee will discuss Bilalov's resignation on Tuesday.

President Vladimir Putin visited Olympic facilities in Sochi on February 6 and expressed discontent with delays in the construction of a ski jump and excessive spending. A company headed by Bilalov is in charge of the project.

Putin demanded urgent measures to amend the situation, while Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said Bilalov would be dismissed as the National Olympic Committee's vice president and board chairman of the Kurorty Severnogo Kavkaza state concern.
