PENZA. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Russian meat processing company Cherkizovo plans to invest 6.4 billion rubles in a project to develop pork production in Penza region in 2014-2016, the Penza regional agriculture ministry said.

Cherkizovo on Tuesday submitted a project for construction of two pork production modules in the region to the regional agriculture ministry.

Each module will include seven platforms, one for reproduction and six feeding platforms, the ministry said, citing the head of the Cherkizovo building in Perm department Igor Ryabov. "Capacity at each module will be fore 250,000 pigs per year and around 28,000 tonnes of meat per year," Ryabov said.

The production sites envisaged in the project will be located in the Penza, Kamensky, Issinsky and Luninsky districts.

Cherkizovo is controlled by Igor Babaev and members of his family.

Earlier Babaev said Cherkizovo has already invested over 15 billion rubles in its agricultural complex in Penza region.
