UAC to supply 300 new jets to Russian Defense Ministry in 2013-2015
MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax-AVN) - The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) will supply about 300 new jets to the Russian Defense Ministry in 2013-2015.
The contracts will be signed soon, UAC military aircraft program director, former Russian Air Force Commander Vladimir Mikhailov said on the sidelines of the scientific-practical conference entitled, "Russian Military Security in the 21st Century."
"In the words of Mikhailov, the production of warplanes has grown significantly over the past two years," a UAC source told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
"New contracts are due to be signed in late February - early March," Mikhailov said.
"The domestic market is a primary objective" of the UAC, he said.
"Long-term contracts have been signed lately to procure Su-34, Su-35, MiG-29K/KUB, MiG-35, Il-76, Su-30SM, Yak-130 and some other models," Mikhailov said.
He said Russia, the United States and China were the leading centers of combat aircraft competences.
"The United States and Israel are the leading drone makers. We lag behind slightly although much has been done to prepare for drone production," Mikhailov said.
