TransContainer starts transporting auto parts for Ford Sollers factory in Yelabuga
MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - OJSC TransContainer has started transporting auto parts for the Ford Sollers factory in Yelabuga, Tatarstan by launching a new container train along the Avtovo (St. Petersburg) - Tikhonovo route, the company reported.
"The train is made up of railcars loaded with containers from MSC's shipping line. The first train, made of up 59 railcars, was sent out on February 17. The container train's journey time is four days. In March there are plans to send seven trains along the route, and in April the frequency will reach ten trains a month," the statement said.
TransContainer owns and operates roughly 62,000 large containers, more than 24,000 railway platforms for transporting them (some 60% of the overall number in Russia), and has a network of terminals at 46 stations in Russia and Slovakia.
TransContainer's shareholders are: OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) with 50% plus one share, FESCO Transportation Group with 23.7%, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with 9.25% and RZD-controlled non-state pension fund Blagosostoyanie, with 6.3%.
Ford Sollers is a joint venture established by Ford Motor Company and Russia's Sollers Group in 2011. It includes production facilities in Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad region), Naberezhnye Chelny and the Alabuga special economic zone in Tatarstan.
