Belarusian banks boost assets 2.3% in Jan

MINSK. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Belarusian banks boosted assets 2.3% in January 2013 to the equivalent of 328.57 trillion Belarusian rubles, the National Bank of Belarus reported.

The increase in assets resulted from a 1.5% rise in Belarusian ruble assets (1.5% growth in December) to Br173.9 trillion and a 2.5% climb in foreign currency assets (4% rise in December) to $17.92 billion.

There were 32 banks in Belarus on February 1 2013, including 27 with foreign capital participation.

The official exchange rate on February 25 stood at Br8,570/$1.
