Barroso urges Yanukovych to personally support Ukraine-EU political, economic integration

BRUSSELS. Feb 25 (Interfax) - European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso hopes for Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's personal commitment and support in the work to attain the joint goal of Ukraine's integration with the European Union.

Barroso made this statement at a press conference after a Ukraine-EU summit in Brussels on Monday.

This message should come from President Yanukovych on the day marking the third anniversary of his inauguration, he said. It is a day for very important decisions and a pledge to provide personal support in attaining our common goal - political association and economic integration between the EU and Ukraine, he added, noting that this goal will be hopefully achieved.
