Dollar down, euro up on Monday
MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar experienced moderate losses against the ruble on the Moscow Exchange on Monday, while the euro was up in anticipation of Italy's parliamentary election results.
By 7:00 p.m. Moscow time, the dollar had fallen 14.65 kopecks over Friday's close to 30.276 rubles/$1.
The euro had risen 12.05 kopecks to 40.215 rubles/EUR1, and the bi-currency basket had edged down 2.5 kopecks to 34.75 rubles.
The Central Bank lowered its official dollar rate for Tuesday by 2.28 kopecks to 30.3368 rubles/$1 and lowered the euro rate by 3.01 kopecks to 40.081 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged down 1.51 kopecks to 30.3324 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the MICEX and down 7.2 kopecks to 30.3053rubles/$1 in Tom deals by 7:00 p.m. Overall trading volume was $4.504 billion, including $1.156 billion Today and $3.347 billion Tom.
The euro rose 0.18 kopecks to 40.1072 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and 6.5 kopecks to 40.1643 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR478.828 million, including EUR219.644 million Today and EUR259.184 million Tom.
The MosPrime Rate for overnight credits rose 16 basis points to 6.38%.
