Over 40% of Ukrainians complain about declining living standards in past 3-4 years - poll
KYIV. Feb 26 (Interfax) - An overwhelming majority of Ukrainians say that their standard of living has worsened or has not changed over the past 3-4 years, the Kyiv International Sociology Institute found after conducting a poll of 2,032 respondents on February 8 to 17.
Three years ago, Viktor Yanukovych was elected president of Ukraine.
According to the poll results published on Tuesday, 43% of the respondents said their lives have worsened in the said period, 39% have not noticed any changes, and only 18% said their lives improved.
In terms of gender, 43.1% of men and 42% of women said their lives worsened, and for 17.1% of men and 18.9% of women they improved. In terms of age, 26% of respondents aged 18-29 see improvements in their lives, while among older people this figure is not more than 14%-16%.
Relatively more people mentioned improvements in their lives in the eastern (20%) and southern (23%) parts of Ukraine, while in the western part this figure is only 14% and in the central 16%.
