Magnitsky's brother-in-law summoned for questioning

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The brother of the widow of

Hermitage Capital lawyer Sergei Magnitsky was summoned to the Interior Ministry's Investigations Department for questioning on Wednesday.

"Sergei Magnitsky's brother-in-law, Andrei Zharikov, was summoned for questioning on Wednesday," Vadim Kleiner, a representative of Hermitage Capital, told Interfax on Wednesday.

The investigator did not give Magnitsky's relative any details of the case on which he will be questioned, he said.

Interfax does not have comments from Interior Ministry officials on this matter.

The Hermitage Capital press service told Interfax earlier on Wednesday that Magnitsky's relative had been summoned to the Interior Ministry for questioning.

Sergei Magnitsky, a legal consultant from Hermitage Capital Foundation and a partner at the British legal firm Firestone Duncan Ltd., who was arrested on tax evasion charges, died in the Moscow Butyrka detention facility on November 16, 2009. The lawyer's colleagues then said he had been arrested after revealing corruption schemes involving Interior Ministry officials.
