PepsiCo postpones Rostov plant construction
MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - PepsiCo has indefinitely postponed the building of its beverages plant in Rostov region, the company told Interfax.
Plans to build the plant were announced in 2010 - before PepsiCo acquired Wimm-Bill-Dann in 2011.
"The deal made PepsiCo the largest manufacturer of food goods and beverages not just in Russia but in the CIS with 40 production sites, in which the company invests considerable sums," PepsiCo Russia and CIS Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Government Relations Sergei Glushkov said.
One of the biggest investment projects that the company is involved in now is the expansion of its snacks plant in Azov (Rostov region), which is due to be completed in the first half of 2013.
It was announced earlier that $140 million would be invested in the beverages plant, which is to produce 500 million liters per year. The plant is to be built in Azov, next to the snack producer. The project was among Rostov region's priority projects.
