Gaz Ukraina founder Kurchenko to unite assets in new company

KYIV. March 1 (Interfax) - The founder of the Gaz Ukraina group of companies, Serhiy Kurchenko, will unite his energy assets in the Eastern-European Fuel and Energy Company, the company said in a press release.

Eastern-European Fuel and Energy Company will include companies that sell liquefied gas, fuel, natural gas, as well as filling stations and automatic compressor gas filling stations and other profile assets.

"The Eastern-European Fuel and Energy Company is being formed as a part of the rebranding of Kurchenko's business and it is a first step on the way of creating a large multi-profile energy company, which will carry out production, trade and investment operations in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Central European countries," reads the press release.

According to Interfax-Ukraine's information, Eastern-European Fuel and Energy Company LLC was registered on February 28, 2013 in Kyiv. Andriy Koshel heads the company and its office is located in the Arena-City complex.

Earlier the Gaz Ukraina group said that it was intending to rebrand.

Gaz Ukraina is negotiating on the purchase of an oil refinery in Ukraine and stakes in oil extracting and refining assets in other countries, in particular, Odesa oil refinery.

Gaz Ukraina specializes in the sale of liquefied and natural gas, fuel and products for the oil and gas industry. It controls about 150 fuel filling stations across the country.

The key shareholder is Kurchenko, who recently bought Kharkiv's Metallist FC.
