Sakhalin Energy extends $333 mln contract with GE for 16 years

MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - Sakhalin-2 project operator Sakhalin Energy has extended its $333 million contract with General Electric for sixteen years, a GE statement says.

The current service contract is set to expire in 2016. The contract extension covers four GE Frame 7EA gas turbines for the Sakhalin liquefied natural gas plant and five GE Frame 5 gas turbines used in the generation of electricity for local needs. This will add two cycles to the existing service contact and make it possible to put more products on offer.

The service contract with GE includes insurance for planned and unplanned power shut-offs, the provision of spare parts and repair work, a guarantee of details availability, remote monitoring and diagnostics, and on-site GE technical specialists. The contract will be backed with the support of the GE technical service center in Kaluga Region.
