Foreign sponsors of Syrian opposition obstructing conflict settlement - Lavrov

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - The foreign sponsors of the irreconcilable opposition are trying to obstruct the beginning of a political dialogue in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

"The situation in Syria is not becoming better, even though there is growing understanding by all sides of the need to stop violence as soon as possible and start dialogue," he said before the beginning of a Monday meeting with a leading member of the Syrian National Coordinating Council Heisam Manaa in Moscow.

"But there are also many of those who are trying to obstruct that, including the foreign sponsors of the so-called irreconcilable opposition," Lavrov added.
