Russian and NATO officials discuss prospects for Afghan situation
MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and NATO Assistant Secretary General Stephen Evans met in Moscow to discuss the alliance's plans for a new mission after the International Security Assistance Force leaves Afghanistan in 2014, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report on Thursday.
"The sides addressed the current situation in Afghanistan in light of the international community's measures to maintain stability in this country, NATO's plans for a new mission of the alliance following the withdrawal of contingents of the International Security Assistance Force in 2014, as well as the prospects for cooperation in Afghanistan-related issues within the Russia-NATO Council," the ministry said.
