Dmitrichenko now fully denies contracting attack on Filin - source
MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - The police had to conduct a face-to-face interrogation of the two key suspects in the case of the acid attack on the artistic director of the Bolshoi theater ballet company Sergei Filin because they had changed their initial evidence.
"The face-to-face interrogation was conducted to remove contradictions in the evidence of the suspects," a source familiar with the findings of the case told Interfax on Thursday.
He said that leading ballet dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko now insists that the initiative of attacking Filin came from another suspect, Yury Zarutsky. Zarutsky also changed his testimony and now says that the dancer did not contract the attack on Filin.
Meanwhile, another Interfax source claims that the suspects stick to their initial points. "The suspects have not changed their initial evidence," the source said.
Initially the investigation decided that Dmitrichenko had ordered the attack. At the court session where the measure of restraint were chosen for him, Dmitrichenko said he had not asked Zarutsky to pour acid on Filin or cause severe bodily injury to the chorographer. He did not deny his actual responsibility but insisted that his actions were qualified too harshly.
Dmitrichenko's lawyer Alexander Barkanov said to Interfax that he would not comment on the information. Neither has Interfax obtained any comments from Zarutsky's lawyers.
