Two detained for blowing up gas pipelines in southern Russia - Interior Ministry
MOSCOW. March 19 (Interfax) - Police have detained two men suspected of staging a series of gas pipeline explosions in southern Russia, the Interior Ministry said in a press release seen by Interfax on Tuesday.
"Detectives of the Counter-Extremism Center of the Interior Ministry's Krasnodar Territory branch and the local department of the Federal Security Service detained two men suspected of blowing up gas pipelines and special-purpose equipment," it said.
The suspects have already admitted to making an explosive device, which they detonated near a gas pipeline in the south of Russia on December 25, 2012, the ministry said.
"Apart from that, they admitted to their role in similar crimes, which were committed by them in 2007 and 2012," it said.
