Pharmaceutical output in Russia down 5.1% in Jan-Feb
MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - The output of pharmaceutical products in Russia decreased 5.1% year-on-year in January-February, according to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
Production of antibiotics in flacons was down 0.6% at 63.6 million units, but in packages it was up 1.7% at 15.8 million units. Output of preparations for the treatment of heart and vascular illness in packages was down 10.4% at 53.9 million units, but up 40.9% in ampoules at 41.6 million units. Production of medicines for the treatment of oncological illness in packages was up 2.5% at 1.186 million units, and in flacons down 84% at 95,000 units.
Output of medicines for psychoneurological ailments in package was up 1.5% at 16.6 million units, in ampoules down 29.5% at 7.3 million units. Production of analgesic, fever-reducing, and anti-inflammatory medicines in packages was up 12% at 109.1 million units, in ampoules 16.9% at 57.5 million units. Output of asthma and antihistamine medicine in packages was up 40.5% at 4.7 million units, and in ampoules down 27.1% at 892,000 units.
Output of blood substitutes reached 7.4 million packages, down 8.7%, and 6.6 million ampoules, down 59%; of anti-tuberculosis medicaments up 29.6% in packages at 1.866 million units and 13% in ampoules at 702,000 units; of medicines for the treatment of diabetes up 16% in packages at 1.479 million units and 18.4% at 103,000 flacons; and for treating dysbacteriosis up 31.2% at 81.9 million doses.
Production of preparations for general and local anesthesia was up 39.2% in packages at 789,000 units and 150% in ampoules at 16.8 million. Output of medicines for the treatment of eye illnesses increased 21.4% to 8.1 packages. The production of medicines used in obstetric and gynecological practice in packages was down 45.4% at 2.264 million units and in ampoules 5.6% at 2.124 million units.
Output of preparations for treating endocrine system, digestive tract, and other illnesses contracted 0.9% in packages to 57.4 million units and 43.4% in ampoules to 10 million. Vitamin production increased 9.9% to 36.1 million packages, but declined 21.8% in ampoules to 37.6 million units.
