Nabiullina plans to maintain current Central Bank policy, but some changes possible

MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Russian presidential aide and candidate for chairman of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina considers it necessary to maintain the continuity of the bank's current policy, although she does not rule out some changes.

"In my view, I should adhere to the continuity of the policy," she told reporters after a meeting with the United Russia faction at the State Duma. "But that doesn't mean that there won't be changes," she added.

The great importance of trust in the banking sector makes it necessary to maintain the current policy, she added.

"Trust is the fundamental principle of the work of the banking system," Nabiullina said.

Changes are needed because life is changing, everything is developing, and Russia faces many challenges ahead, she said.

Nabiullina said she discussed concrete changes to the policy at her meeting with the United Russia faction on Friday.

United Russia met with Nabiullina in her capacity as candidate for chairman of the Central Bank.
