Prosecutor stabbed in southern Moscow - source

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - Nikolai Ivanov, an official with the Prosecutor General's Office's department in the Central Federal District, was stabbed in a traffic conflict in Ulitsa Teply Stan in Moscow, a source in the law enforcement agencies told Interfax.

"Around 7:40 p.m., N. Ivanov, who was driving his Hyundai, was cut off by a black Mercedes. The prosecutor got into a conflict with the driver, which led to a fight," the source said.

The driver of the Mercedes stabbed the prosecutor in the stomach and hips before leaving the crime scene.

The incident was witnessed by the prosecutor's wife, who also works for the Moscow prosecutor's office. She called the emergency services and the police.

Ivanov was operated on at the Sklifasovsky Emergency Assistance Research Center. He is in stable condition.

The police are now looking for the driver of the Mercedes.
