CIS members' General Staff chiefs to confer in Moscow
MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States will convene in Moscow on April 10, Mikhail Sevastyanov, spokesman for the Secretariat of the CIS' Defense Ministers Council, told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.
The meeting will be attended by delegations of the general staffs of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine, Sevastyanov said.
It will also be attended by representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the Secretariat of the CIS Defense Ministers' Council, he said.
The Executive Committee members will discuss at least ten pressing issues in multilateral interaction between the CIS member countries' armed forces. They will negotiate amendments to the agreement on the use of military communications satellite systems and their further development, signed on March 12 1993, as well as prospects of cooperation between the services for protecting state military secrets.
