Three policemen injured in mine blast in Ingushetia - Interior Ministry
MOSCOW. April 2 (Interfax) - Three policemen were injured in a mine blast in the Sunzha district of Ingushetia on Tuesday while examining a forest where Defense Ministry servicemen had hit a landmine earlier.
"Two members of the Ingush Interior Ministry's OMON [a special police unit] and a serviceman from an administrative border guard operational regiment suffered injuries of varying degrees in a mine blast today," the Interior Ministry told Interfax.
The policemen hit a personnel mine on the outskirts of the community of Nizhny Alkun, the Sunzha district of Ingushetia, while examining a forest where three Defense Ministry servicemen had hit a landmine not long before this incident.
Interfax learned earlier from a law enforcement source that several policemen had been injured in Ingushetia. The source did not say exactly how many people were injured but pointed out that one of them was Rashid Ganizhev, a deputy commander of the Ingush Interior Ministry OMON, who was hospitalized in serious condition.
