EU official against timeframe for P5+1 talks with Iran

ALMATY. April 5 (Interfax) - Tehran's negotiations with the P5+1 group (the UN Security Council's five permanent members plus Germany) should not be given any timeframe, Michael Mann, spokesperson for EU Foreign Policy Chief Baroness Catherine Ashton, said at a press conference in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Friday.

In principle, the P5+1 group is not interested in talks for the sake of talks, he said.

Mann said that he would not set any timeframe for these negotiations, which, however, should produce progress.

The search for a solution to this issue ought to continue, he added.
