Most Georgians are pro-NATO - state minister
TBILISI. April 5 (Interfax) - The Georgian foreign policy of integration into NATO and the European Union is unwavering, State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili told a Friday press briefing.
"The recent sociological survey in Georgia confirmed that about 80% of residents plainly supported the course towards entry into NATO and the European Union. Georgia is a European country and it has an ambition to be a full-fledged member of the European family," Petriashvili said.
"I must say that a delegation of the NATO political council led by Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will visit Tbilisi within months. That will be the third visit of the NATO Council to Georgia since 2008, which is unprecedented. The visit will send a major political message of NATO and coordinate new steps for Georgia in the accession to NATO," Petriashvili said.
"NATO is enthusiastic about the progress in Georgia," he observed.
