Bomb found in cache near Kabardino-Balkaria town

NALCHIK. April 5 (Interfax) - An improvised explosive device hidden in a 100-liter plastic container was found on the eastern outskirts of the town of Baksan in Kabardino-Balkaria in Russia's North Caucasus, the republic's Interior Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

"The container was buried underground. An improvised explosive device that can be attached to a target by magnets and contained the equivalent of half a kilogram of TNT was confiscated from it," the ministry said.

The bomb was disposed of at the site.

None of the police officers or civilians were injured in the operation, it said.

Apart from the explosive device, the cache also contained a pistol, an RGN grenade with a fuse, an F-1 grenade, a plastic bag filled with a powder-like substance and over 200 ammunition items.

Investigators are working at the scene. A search for those who set up the cache is under way.
