Iran has yet to give clear reply to mediators offers - Western diplomat
BRUSSELS. April 5 (Interfax) - Proposals made by Iran at negotiations in Almaty on Friday are not a clear and concrete answer to proposals made earlier by E3+3, a Western diplomat told Interfax on Friday.
"We are somewhat puzzled by the Iranians' characterization of what they presented at this morning's plenary. There has not yet been a clear and concrete response to the E3+3's Almaty I [the February round of talks between E3+3 and Iran in Almaty] proposal," the diplomat said.
"There were some interesting but not fully explained general comments on our ideas. It was mainly a reworking of what they said in Moscow," the diplomat said.
We have insisted on a second plenary this afternoon, so that they can respond in the kind of detail that will enable us to make progress, he said.
Another round of talks between P5+1, five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany, which is known as E3+3 in Europe, and Iran started in Almaty on April 5. The previous round of talks also took place in Almaty this February.
