Ferrexpo boosts iron ore pellet output 10% in Q1

KYIV. April 9 (Interfax) - Ferrexpo plc, whose main asset is Ukrainian iron ore pellet producer Poltava Mining, raised overall iron ore pellet production 10.2% year-on-year in Q1 2013 to 2.551 million tonnes.

The company said in a statement that output of pellets from its own feedstock rose 10.1% to 2.486 million tonnes, and that output from third-party concentrate grew 15.1% to 65,700 tonnes.

The company produced 1.034 million tonnes of pellets with 65% Fe-content, all from its own feedstock, down 2.8%; and 1.518 million tonnes with 62% Fe, up 21.2%, including 1.452 million tonnes from its own feedstock, up 21.2%.

Crude iron ore production at Poltava Mining fell 5.3% to 7.143 million tonnes, and concentrate output rose 2.6% to 2.77 million tonnes.

The Yeristovo mining complex, which was commissioned last summer, produced 1.224 million tonnes of ore and 373 kg of concentrate.
