Lavrov may meet with Kerry on sidelines of G8 ministerial meeting in London

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to meet with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of an upcoming G8 ministerial meeting in London.

Lavrov said earlier that such a meeting could take place. "We are negotiating such a possibility at the moment. As bilateral meetings go, liaison with the French foreign minister has been agreed already, and such a possibility concerning the U.S. secretary of state is being negotiated now," Lavrov told reporters in Ashgabat last Thursday.

No official announcement has yet been made about such a meeting or issues to be discussed at it. However, if Lavrov and Kerry do have a bilateral meeting in London, they are most likely to address the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the Iranian nuclear program, and bilateral issues, including Russian orphaned children adopted by U.S. families.

Interfax has also learned from well-placed sources that Lavrov could have a bilateral meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.
