Rosneft to hold talks with Sakhalin-1 partners on gas supplies for LNG plant

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. April 11 (Interfax) - Gas that is produced under the Sakhalin-1 project could be used to supply the second stage of an LNG plant on Sakhalin, said Igor Sechin, president of Rosneft .

"Here we need to reach agreement with all partners, with Exxon, Marubeni, ONGC and Sinopec. Talks will be held with them regarding decisions to supply gas for this project [the second stage of the LNG plant]," he said.

Sechin said "Japanese companies with which we held talks in Tokyo are themselves making offers on the possibility of co-financing."

He said the resource base for the Sakhalin-1 project was an estimated 500 billion cubic meters and that, together with Rosneft's own resources of 600 bcm would make 1.1 trillion cu.

"This has to be discussed, this is so the range of discussion of a theoretical nature," he said.

He said the first stage of the LNG plant would draw only in Rosneft's own resources.
