Putin's inclusion on Finnish blacklist by mistake does not require response - press secretary

MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - The Russian authorities are not going to react in any way to the inclusion of President Vladimir Putin on Finland's criminal blacklist by mistake, Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

The Russian president is aware of this incident, Peskov told the Kommersant FM radio station, describing Putin's attitude to it as "ironic".

No reaction should be expected from Moscow because the Finnish authorities themselves sorted out this misunderstanding, he said.

"I do not think that it requires any response. As far as we know, the Finnish side itself timely detected this flaw. An inquiry is under way. That is why I do not think that any additional measures will be required in this situation," Peskov said.

"Finland has already reacted to it and offered its apology," he said.

According to foreign news reports, the Russian president's name was mistakenly included in a secret criminal register that could theoretically have gotten him arrested at the border.

Finnish police have already offered their apology for this misunderstanding. Finland's interior minister expressed hope that this mistake would not damage relations with Russia.

The media reports claim that the Russian president's name was placed on this list for his contacts with members of the Night Wolves bikers club.
