Broadening of nuke program will not contribute to trust between P5+1, Iran - Russian ministry
MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Iran's plans to put new uranium mining and processing plants into operation will not help the P5+1 group (the UN Security Council's five permanent members plus Germany) and Tehran reach a mutual understanding and trust, a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman told Interfax on Friday.
"Iranians are not making a secret of their plans to boost their uranium mining capacities. These measures will not violate the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty or resolutions of the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors," he said.
"However, in our opinion, Iran's plans to broaden the development of its nuclear program will not help secure an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust between the P5+1 international brokers and Iran that is so much needed for the successful continuation of the negotiating process," the ministry spokesman said.
