Lavrov thanks Switzerland for representing Russian interests in Georgia
NEUCHATEL, Switzerland. April 12 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has thanked Switzerland for representing Russia's interests in Georgia and Georgian interests in Russia.
"We express our gratitude to our Swiss colleagues who actively and very honestly perform the functions of representing Russia's interests in Georgia and Georgia's interests in Moscow," Lavrov said at a press conference after talks with Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter on Friday.
The Russian minister also thanked Geneva for offering a platform for consultations on security and cooperation in Transcaucasia.
"On the whole, Geneva compares favorably with other negotiating platforms because it has a special atmosphere that makes it easier for the sides to reach agreements," he said.
