Saakashvili indignant at Prime Minister Ivanishvili's accusations
TBILISI. April 12 (Interfax) - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has expressed his indignation at the statement of Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili who, in his opinion, accused Georgia of unleashing the war of August 2008.
"Yesterday the prime minister directly accused the Armed Forces and the state of Georgia of unleashing the war of August 2008. No one else but Russian officials and Hugo Chavez have done that before. Georgia has been there: Bolshevik Orjonikidze overthrew the democratic republic and instated the Soviet regime," Saakashvili told Georgian reporters in Poland on Thursday.
The president said he would never cooperate with the ad hoc investigative commission established by the new government.
Georgian Prosecutor General Archil Kbilashvili said on Thursday that his office would set up an investigative group to probe legal aspects of the events of August 2008.
"We will actually form an investigative group to study legal issues pertaining to the war of August 2008. It is our task to establish possible war crimes in the legal aspect," the prosecutor said.
He added that every official related to the subject would be questioned.
