Three gunmen killed in Dagestan
MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Three gunmen supposedly belonging to the so-called Gimry gang were killed in a special operation in Dagestan on Friday, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) told Interfax.
The Gimry gang is responsible for killing Dagestani Deputy Interior Minister Omarov and three policemen escorting him in 2005, the NAC said.
These gunmen are also responsible for killing deputy head of the local criminal investigations department Magomedov, head of the Dagestani Interior Ministry's organized crime department Zubairov and an operative from the economic crimes department Abdullayev, and also the chief and an operative of the Untsukul district police department and a senior official from the Buinaksk city police department, it said.
The same people are suspected of killing Federal Security Service (FSB) officer Gazimagomedov in December 2005 and Buinaksk Prosecutor Bitarov in August 2006.
