Moscow traffic police chief Ilyin may resign after vacation - source
MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Moscow traffic police chief Alexander Ilyin has gone on vacation after being harshly criticized for the traffic police corruption scandal. He may resign when the vacation is over, a source familiar with the situation told Interfax.
"A. Ilyin has gone on vacation after he was harshly criticized for the corruption scandal at the Moscow traffic police," the source said.
"Shortcomings in traffic police units will now have to be eliminated by his deputy, not him," the source said.
The source did not rule out the resignation of Ilyin after his vacation.
The law enforcement authorities reported on April 11 that the illegal issue of driving licenses had been exposed in Moscow and criminal charges were brought against four Moscow traffic police officers.
