Black Sea, Northern fleets' warships to practice interoperability skills in Mediterranean

SEVEROMORSK. April 15 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Northern Fleet's large antisubmarine warfare ship, the Severomorsk, and the Black Sea Fleet's large amphibious warship, the Azov, will practice basic interoperability skills in the Mediterranean, Northern Fleet spokesman, Captain First Rank Vadim Serga told Interfax-AVN in Monday.

"During the naval maneuvers, to be controlled from the Severomorsk, the task force of the Northern and Black Sea fleets will perform a series of exercises. The crews will do joint maneuvering and organize communications in compliance with international standards of radio exchanges. Also, survivability exercises will be held and search and rescue skills practiced," Serga said.

The Severomorsk, which has completed an anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden, will continue service in the inter-fleet interoperability exercise, he said.
