Mosenergosbyt interim head named CEO

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - The board of directors of OJSC Mosenergosbyt , the electricity provider of last resort in Moscow and the surrounding region, has appointed Andrei Kovalev as the company's new chief executive, the company said in a press release.

Kovalev, who has been interim CEO since last July, was appointed first deputy managing director for economics and finance in 2009. From 2003 to 2005 he worked in the energy sales department of Unified Energy System of Russia.

Former Mosenergosbyt CEO Pyotr Sinyutin left the company to head Moscow United Electricity Distribution Company , where he replaced Andrei Konovalov.

The controlling stake in the company is owned by state-controlled OJSC Inter RAO UES . Companies close to Gazprom hold a blocking stake in Mosenergosbyt, and the Moscow city government owns about 7.5% of shares.
