UzDaewooAuto was set up on an equal footing by the Uzbek government and Daewoo Motor. In 2005, Uzbekistan bought the investor out and transferred 100% of the outfit's stock into management by OJSC UzAutoProm. In October 2007, UzAutoProm and General Motors signed an agreement on setting up GM Uzbekistan at UzDaewooAuto, in which GM holds a quarter of the stock. The joint venture now produces eight models of cars, including the Chevrolet Captiva and Chevrolet Malibu using SKD technology and the rest using full-scale production.
