Prosecutors annul police warrant on prosecuting Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs VP
MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Prosecution authorities have annulled a Moscow police resolution on opening a criminal case into an incident involving Vice President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Viktor Pleskachevsky.
"Moscow's Savyolovsky District Prosecutor's Office has annulled a decision by a district police department on opening a criminal case on charges of deliberate destruction of property (Russian Criminal Code Article 167)," a law enforcement source told Interfax.
The city police confirmed to Interfax that the documents were returned from the prosecutor's office to the investigative agencies.
"Concerning the incident involving Pleskachevsky, the prosecution authorities recommended that the documents be passed to a magistrate court to consider all circumstance of the incident in a civilian procedure," it said.
Kommersant reported on Tuesday that police detained Pleskachevsky, a former State Duma deputy, for attacking a taxi driver and breaking a car window while under the influence.
