Russian companies must catch fish, foreigners should invest in fish processing - Medvedev
GORKI. April 19 (Interfax) - Russia will welcome foreign investment in the fish processing industry, but fishing itself must be the Russian companies' domain, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
"Our position is simple: fishing is something to be done by Russian companies," Medvedev told the government commission overseeing foreign investment.
This is the practice all over the world. Other countries do the same, he said.
"But foreign investors' presence in joint-stock capital is generally welcome, especially in processing companies' capital," Medvedev said.
The commission is discussing on Friday a number of pharmaceutical industry and extraction deals.
