CSTO, UN experts discuss Afghanistan in Moscow
MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - Border security cooperation and preparations for a scientific and practical conference on Afghanistan were discussed on Friday at the CSTO Secretariat within the framework of consultations with the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
"CSTO Deputy Secretary General Gennady Nevyglas reported fulfillment of the decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council session of December 2012. Strengthening of border security cooperation, development of the CSTO military component, preparations for a scientific and practical conference on Afghanistan and training of CSTO peacekeepers were the top items on the agenda," CSTO press secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov told Interfax-AVN on Friday.
"The UN representatives were informed about a visiting session of the CSTO Permanent Council, a working visit of CSTO Secretariat heads to Kyrgyzstan, and meetings with President Almazbek Atambayev and government members of the republic, which currently chairs the CSTO Collective Security Council," he said.
