Belarus to extradite "aircraft troublemaker" to Russia

MINSK. April 23 (Interfax) - Belarusian law enforcement authorities have begun the extradition of an "aircraft troublemaker", Russian citizen Sergei Kabalov.

"We have granted the Russian request and started the extradition of Russian citizen S. Kabalov to Russia under bilateral agreements," a source at the Grodno regional prosecutor's office told Interfax on Tuesday.

He said Kabalov had been transferred from Grodno to Minsk and was pending extradition.

Belarusian Interior Ministry information and public relations department head Konstantin Shalkevich told Interfax earlier that Kabalov, who was put on the international wanted list for hooliganism onboard a plane flying from Moscow to Hurghada, was detained in the Grodno region on March 7. He came to Belarus from Ukraine in late January and was hiding for over a month.
