Tbilisi says will offer no cooperation to Tskhinval in investigating 2008 war

TBILISI. April 25 (Interfax) - Georgian Foreign Minister Maya Pandzhanikidze refuses to comment on the fact that the South Ossetian authorities have begun investigating crimes committed by Georgia during the August 2008 war.

"Our government has explained clearly why it did not want another investigation of reasons and circumstances of the August 2008 war. We have made this decision without referring to anyone. As to the investigation being conducted by someone else, I will not comment on this," Pandzhanikidze told reporters on Thursday.

At the same time, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Irakli Sesiashvili said that the information that the South Ossetian prosecutor's office has begun investigating in relation to crimes committed by Georgia during the August 2008 war was "not serious."

"We do not recognize their authority. This investigation has no legal force. To be honest, I have no interest in what we will come up with. The Georgian side has no intention in cooperating with them in any way," Sesiashvili told reporters on Thursday.
