Rumas appointed Belarus's envoy to associations of ex-Soviet republics
MINSK. April 25 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has appointed former Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Rumas Belarus's representative at the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the presidential press service reported.
Rumas has also been invested with duties as a deputy prime minister for Belarus's activities in the Belarus-Russia Union, the Belarusian-Kazakh-Russian Customs Union and the United Economic Area, the CIS, the Eurasian Economic Community, and the nascent Eurasian Economic Union.
Rumas has been appointed Belarus's national coordinator for CIS affairs and included in the Council of Ministers presidium.
"In exercising these powers, Rumas will coordinate activities of national governance bodies, issue mandatory directives to them and control their implementation, and bear responsibility for the state of affairs in this area," it said.
Rumas left the deputy prime ministerial office and became chairman of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus in July 2012.
