Kazakh president, top U.S. diplomat discuss bilateral ties
ASTANA. April 26 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns discussed key measures to broaden the strategic partnership between the two countries at a meeting in Almaty on Friday, the Kazakh presidential press service said.
The prospects for promoting economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and the U.S. were addressed as well, the press service said.
Nazarbayev reiterated his country's interest in the success of socioeconomic recovery efforts under way in Afghanistan and told the U.S. diplomat about projects being implemented by the republic, the press service said.
The Kazakh president once again offered his condolences over the terrorist attack in Boston.
Burns, for his part, relayed a message from U.S. President Barack Obama to Nazarbayev.
