Russia, Japan condemn N.Korea's refusal to give up nuclear weapons plans
MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - Russia and Japan condemn North Korea's refusal to give up plans to create nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in a statement adopted after their talks.
North Korea has been stubbornly refusing to give up plans to create nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, "contrary to the international community's calls."
"The two leaders urged North Korea to strictly abide by Resolution 2094 of the UN Security Council and the UN Security Council resolutions of the fourth round of the six-party talks of September 19 2005," the statement says.
The Russian and Japanese leaders said that they welcome further efforts to create conditions for restarting the six-nation talks on the basis of the principles and goals, laid down in the joint statement crowning the 2005 talks.
